Pumpkin Pilates with Poison Ivy Week 3 #HalloweenFITFun

"In this story, beauty kills the beast.”

Poison Ivy

Welcome to #HalloweenFITFun Week 3 and we are in for a Pumpkin Pilates treat with Gotham’s favorite eco-terrorist, Poison Ivy

This anti-hero was originally created as a love interest for Batman but Dr Pamela Isley is indeed a rebel with a cause.

She believes mankind is the root of all evil- she’s not a criminal for personal gain or fortune or fame

This green eyed eco terrorist is on a mission to eradicate humans so plants can inhabit the planet in peace.  This villainous queen is known to be kind to fellow women who have been brutalized unfairly by men.

Ya gotta love DC Comics for those plant based feminists!

Speaking of plants- grab a pumpkin for todays 25 minute pilates core and ab mat workout!

Just like Poison uses pheromones to control who ever she wants- we’ll be using our core to control our body movements and feel good enough to take on the world!

But First- some Fun Facts about Poison Ivy!

Her real name is Dr Pamela Isley

She first appeared in Bartman Volume 1 #181 in 1966 comic book series

She was created by Robert Kanigher and Sheldon Moldoff.

She is normally shown as a femme fatale with green skin, red hair and is toxic to the touch.

Shes a botanist and biochemist that can control the minds of humans

In 1966 Professor Marc LeGrande poisoned her after they stole rare ancient herbs and he feared she’d rat him out.  This backfired giving her the toxic super powers.  In 1985 Dr Jason Woodrue in Seattle seduced and injected her with poisonous toxins driving her insane.  In 2011 the young college intern botanist sought revenge for her abusive dad killing her mom. After killing her, he buried her in Pamela’s garden

These betrayals led her to believe all men were evil, and why she sides with battered women

Ivy has chlorokenisis - she can connect to the plant dimension Green.

She can control plants with her mind as well as secrete deadly toxins.  She is often seen using armies of vines to trap and ensnare her enemies.

She also needs sun and CO2 to survive- just like any other plant!

Batman is the only person that she cannot control with her superpowers- due to his almost supernatural willpower.  This leaves her super obsessed with the Dark Knight

She’s bisexual

After a stint in Arkham Asylum she met Harley Quinn. They are currently in a non monogamous relationship that bloomed in the animated series in 1993.   This relationship is less toxic than Harley and Joker’s and seems to require less  explosives and way more cuddles!

Now onto the Pumpkin Abs Workout!

Continuing with my theme from the last two weeks- each week for #HalloweenFITFun I am honoring a friend I have lost to cancer

Wendy Herm was not only the life of the party, she was an intelligent and accomplished femme fatale herself

Whether she was devising a marketing plan for a Fortune 500 company or throwing a themed costive party for 500 of her friends- she threw her heart and soul into it- and always had a smile on her face..

When her cancer diagnosis came- she began to think of all the things to be grateful for and created the hashtag #Lucky99Ways

Although I may not see Wendy again on this planet, her words guide me still.  I am lucky to be here, and I am so grateful to have you here reading this AND I am lucky to be able to create things that make people happy.

And just like Wendy created a life she was thrilled to live I urge you, no matter how bad this year may seem- just keep trucking and find the little moments in each day where you can carve out something beautiful.

Maybe it’s a bird flying, maybe its a flower in a pot or maybe its just a moment that you can take a deep breath and let it all go

Please visit Wendy’s website and choose from one of the charities there if you are moved by her story
