Hi, I'm Jessi! I live in Oakland, California,
but my fitness career started in my hometown of NYC.
I remember it so clearly... it was the fateful morning of September 11, 2001. We ran out into the mass chaos on the streets ...the Twin Towers had been struck by an airplane. All you could see was gray destruction in the sky as black smoke filled the sky. I watched in horror as the towers fell.
My life flashed before my eyes...
Suddenly I just knew working in fashion was NOT my calling. Fitness was my absolute love and passion. All I wanted to do was spread my love of working out….. I love helping people to feel great... I knew the time was then…..
I completed my first certifications in Personal Training & Group Fitness. On the Upper East Side, I became Crunch's most in demand personal trainer & instructor. I also competed in the National Physique Committee's Ms. Fitness competitions, where I rocked the stage and placed 6th. But the competition wrecked my metabolism, I gained weight and I felt bulky. I felt out of touch with my body. I craved a harmonious and spiritual way to connect to my body. At Laughing Lotus I started to explore the flowing moves, breath and meditation of Vinyasa Yoga and soon completed my 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training.
Then a friend took me to Pilates!!!
The precision & fluidity of the Pilates workout kicked my butt in the right places...the results were just Ahhhhhh-MAAAAzing! I truly fell in love all the machines and took hundreds of classes. I began with a Pilates Mat certification and after studying hard I completed 750 hours of Pilates Apparatus training under the late great Romana Kryzonowska.
Since then I have continued to explore many aspects of fitness, but Pilates is just the one technique that gives my clients the most whole and complete transformations.
In the last 16 years I've helped thousands of women like you achieve their goals.
My focus is on helping individuals discover the true joy of movement. Through my career I've worked with leading fitness companies, brands, creatives, celebrities, dancers, competitive athletes, and healers, from beginner to advanced exercisers. But my true passion is getting you to strengthen, stretch and smile! I created JFIT/ Pilates based on my 23,000 hours of experience both in New York and San Francisco... It's all about FLOW INTENT TECHNIQUE™
A workout with me (online or in person) could include any combination of a sweaty circuit weight session, my signature JFIT Pilates Mat classes, a kick-a$$ HIIT session, reformer strength work, Pilates Chair or Springboard routines, a kitchen makeover or even a burning barre booty blast.
I have also been known to throw down a killer playlist to help get you through it all dancing.
I specialize in helping busy urbanites (and post urbanites) navigate their health and fitness journeys into their hectic schedules. Jessi's passion is to motivate you to move more and to move better! She’s worked with students as young as 12 and as old as 90. She has lead groups from 2 to 60 people. She has extensive experience with clients who suffering: heart disease, cancer, HIV/AIDS, fibromyalgia, cerebral palsy and many many joint problems. Jessi has had great success in both the last 10 pounds and can help you in combating obesity. She especially enjoys working with pre/post natal clients and has great success in getting new moms back to their pre-pregnancy shape. During her time in NYC she extensively worked with models to maintain their long lean muscle tone without any bulk and can help you get there before your next festival or event!

Pilates is total body conditioning system. Named after German-born Joseph H. Pilates, it was created 100 years ago. This mind body balancing exercise system emphasizes body alignment and breathing- helping you both strengthen and lengthen.
Joe called it "Contrology"- it's all about controlled moves focused on your core- the abs, lower back, hips and butt. He created over 500 exercises, where both the major muscles AND the supportive muscles work evenly and simultaneously. You strengthen AND stretch, which restores muscular balance and improves posture. The mind guides the body through the series of meticulously designed movements. Pilates is built around 6 principals: control, precision, concentration, precision, breath and flow.
Both floor or "mat" & machine or "apparatus" exercises are used. The Mat-Work uses body-weight and can be performed almost anywhere, anytime. All of the resistance in the Pilates apparatus comes from springs. The primary machine is the Reformer. It is bed- like and 100s exercises can be performed it. Other equipment, all spring-loaded, includes the Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Electric Chair, Barrel and Spine Corrector.
Jessi is one of the few Second Generation Pilates Instructors in the Nor Cal Region.
"Second Generation" is just a really fancy way of saying one learned directly under Joes' original students, known as "first-generation teachers." Jessi studied under the late, great Madame of Pilates, Romana Krysaowska after a 750 hour apprenticeship in New York City.
Romana herself started training with Joe when she was 16 and dancing for the New York City Ballet. Jessi is 100% certified on the mat, reformer, Cadillac, Chairs, Barrels, many small props and is well versed on Gratz, Balanced Body, Peak, FitFormers and Mega Former equipment. She has been teaching Pilates and Yoga since 2003 and Fitness since 2001.
